Eric,
I was at a Sun conference call a few weeks ago in which this topic was covered.
According to Sun representatives, Woodstock 4.2 will still be supported by Sun for the foreseeable future.
Woodstock 4.3 is available for download, however it was never officially finished.
NetBeans comes with Woodstock 4.2 therefore you should be OK as far as support goes.

Eric,
I haven't deployed any projects using Woodstock to production, however it is possible that I will be doing that in the near future.
Soon I will start working on a project using Project WebSynergy. The NetBeans Portal Pack Plugin comes with a visual portlet builder, very similar to Visual Web JSF. Portlets built with this plugin use Woodstock components. We plan to use this plugin for this new project.
